Sundays from June 2 to October 27, 2024
In 2023, the Market brought $4.7M spent in the neighborhood, with 40K shoppers served and $34K raised for food accessibility programs
CHICAGO — The nonprofit Rogers Park Business Alliance (RPBA) is proud to announce the 15th season of its Glenwood Sunday Market (GSM), every Sunday from June 2 to October 27 (closed on June 30 and August 18), from 9 a.m. - 2 p.m. The Market will take place in the outdoor Glenwood Alfresco area on the southbound Glenwood Avenue between Morse and Lunt Avenues, to the west of the CTA Red Line Morse stop.
For the past 14 consecutive years, Glenwood Sunday Market has helped sustain the local food system and provided a significant revenue stream for local farmers and food producers. Last year, 23 participating vendors served over 40K shoppers generating a total immediate economic benefit of approximately $1.5M to farmers and food artisans. An additional $620K was spent by Glenwood Sunday Market shoppers at surrounding local businesses. Overall, the Market made a $4.7M economic impact in the neighborhood based on tracked spending at the market and surrounding businesses on Sundays during the Market’s 2023 season.
Glenwood Sunday Market combats food insecurity in Rogers Park and strives for social justice through food access. In 2023, the Market raised a total of $34K toward food access initiatives in the Rogers Park community. Donations for the 2024 Glenwood Sunday Market can be made at www.glenwoodsundaymarket.org.
Vendors including both new and returning farmers will be announced later. All vendors accept cash and the majority of them accept credit and debit cards. LINK Cards and other SNAP cards are also accepted at the Market, with a grant match program continuing in 2024: every $25 LINK transaction will be matched with an additional $25, thanks to the generous grant from LinkUp Illinois.
Glenwood Sunday Market encourages participation by farmers engaged in sustainable farming methods including certified organic farms and biodynamic farms as well as those who are transitioning land from conventional to organic. It also welcomes artisanal food vendors who are committed to using local, seasonal, sustainably produced ingredients. The Market is composed of 60% agricultural products and 40% value-added food products.
Glenwood Sunday Market is a program of the nonprofit Rogers Park Business Alliance, with a vision to create an equitable, ethical, and secure local food system. Composed entirely of farmers and food artisans that work within 200 miles of Rogers Park, GSM’s mission is to make sustainable, regionally produced foods accessible to the whole community. Glenwood Sunday Market is committed to economic, environmental, and social sustainability in Rogers Park, the city and region. For more information, visit www.glenwoodsundaymarket.org.
