Bulls Donate James R. Jordan Club Building to the Boys & Girls Club of Chicago
The Chicago Bulls and the Boys & Girls Clubs of Chicago (BGCC) celebrate a new milestone in their partnership with the donation of the James R. Jordan Club building by the Bulls. The James R. Jordan Club is one of eight facilities operated by BGCC that offers youth development programs focused on key areas, including academic success, healthy lifestyles, and leadership. The Bulls built the 41,000-square-foot building that opened in 1996 in honor of the memory of Michael Jordan’s late father, James R. Jordan. Today, hundreds of members visit the Club weekly to participate in literacy programs, college and career readiness programs, sports leagues, and many more enriching activities.
“This generous donation from the Chicago Bulls is pivotal and deeply meaningful for our organization. As long-time supporters and dedicated partners in our mission, the gift of this facility reinforces the Bulls’ deep commitment to the community and to our shared values and goals. Together, we are creating a brighter future and leaving a lasting legacy of positive change for Chicago’s children and teens.” – Michael Crowley, Boys & Girls Clubs of Chicago President and CEO.
Aside from being a space for youth development, the Club is also the practice facility for all Bulls Entertainment teams. Bulls entertainers often volunteer at the Club, offering pro bono dance lessons and other programs for youth.
“The Chicago Bulls are committed to giving back to the community and supporting organizations, like the Boys & Girls Club of Chicago, that create safe places for Chicago youth to learn and grow,” said Michael Reinsdorf, president and chief executive officer at the Chicago Bulls. “We are grateful for our long partnership with the Boys & Girls Club of Chicago and will cheer them on in this exciting next chapter.”
Founded in 1902, BGCC serves youth ages five to 18+ during the out-of-school hours across 24 Chicagoland locations. These Clubs are much more than after-school programs. BGCC also serves as a safe space among the urban pressures of violence and poverty, aligning with the Bulls’ off-the-court mission. Through education, community investment, health and wellness, and access to opportunities, the Bulls are dedicated to preventing community violence and have found the 27-year partnership with BGCC to be a pillar in that commitment.
