GLCU hits volunteering goal of 3,000 hours for 2023 on CU Kind Day
Great Lakes Credit Union (GLCU) and its Foundation for Financial Empowerment are celebrating a big milestone: As of Oct. 9 – CU Kind Day – team members have dedicated a remarkable 3,000+ volunteer hours in 2023 to various charitable initiatives and community organizations. More than 80% of GLCU employees selflessly donated their time to 100 local organizations that work to directly improve their communities.
Team members spent those hours providing financial education in schools, assisting with community cleanup projects, reading to children, and distributing food and clothing to those in need. These efforts align with GLCU's core mission to financially empower members while positively impacting the communities in which GLCU operates.
“As part of our mission of banking for a greater good, financial empowerment is one of our core values,” said Steve Bugg, President and CEO of GLCU. “To see so many of our team members bring that mission to life by giving their time and energy to our communities shows how committed they are to that mission, and I am grateful for their contributions.”
The event to push GLCU over the 3,000 volunteer hours benchmark was held on CU Kind Day, where GLCU’s Great Wave volunteers proudly partnered with Bernie's Book Bank of Lake Bluff to sort books for local families in need.About the GLCU Foundation for Financial Empowerment:
