(Chicago, Il,) Renowned Superstar Comedian Damon Williams returns to his hometown of Chicago to perform a one-night stand of comedy that will bring attention to a serious problem in Chicago. Early Walker-CEO of I am Telling, Don’t Shoot- will join Damon Williams as they both will bring attention and raise funds to maintain Walker’s Parents for Chicago communication line that has halted four planned “Teen Takeovers” in Chicago. Administrators from the Chicago Police Department will also join the duo.
On April 18th, Early Walker introduced his “Parents of Chicago” text and email communication lines that were adopted by the Chicago Police Department in a joint response to the recent “Teen Takeovers “within Chicago.
By texting "CHICAGOKIDS" to "21000", parents have been able sign up for these communications. These notifications have made it easier for parents to be informed of gatherings their children may be at and have helped prevent their children from engaging in dangerous and disorderly conduct.
While touring around the country Damon Williams learned through various publications of how Early Walker’s communication line was producing positive results in bring a halt to four planned Teen Takeovers over the recent Memorial Day holiday. That is when he called Walker to offer financial support to maintain the unique but expensive system.
“I love Chicago. We are one of the most storied cities in all of American history. I do not want the negative stigma attached to these teen takeovers to become our new brand. In fact, I want to use my platform to also bring attention to the need for more summer youth programs and jobs for our youth. Our youth is so much better than the negative outcome of these takeovers.” Says Damon Williams
After introducing the Parents for Chicago to the public, thousands of parents have signed up as members and have shared hundreds of messages and key information that led to four planned takeovers during the recent Memorial Holiday weekend being halted and canceled.
Mr. Walker and his “I’m Telling, Don’t Shoot “organization have solely financed this initiative. But Walker is hopeful that other business leaders will join in the campaign.
“I’ am grateful for Damon Williams involvement. I have been forced to finance this initiative alone. The initiative has rapidly garnered thousands of members and has increased the operations cost. I am urging Mayor Johnson and the City of Chicago, along with business leaders to assist me in keeping Parents for Chicago alive.”
Walker adds, “It is apparent that this unruly behavior of some of our youth has caused great harm to the health and welfare of the city of Chicago. The “Parents of Chicago” lines were established to create a database of parents who would like to be informed when these deplorable acts of reckless conduct are being performed. But it also gives parents the opportunity to utilize this line when they learn of the next demonstration being organized by teenagers.”
“I applaud Early Walker and CPD Director Glen Brooks who collaborated to establish this line of communication. I am even more impressed that world renowned entertainers such as Damon Williams have latched on to assist with raising awareness and funds. Early Walker continues to bring these outstanding methods to our government officials in effort to deter crime in our neighborhoods. With community engagement, “Parents for Chicago” communication line will continue to be extremely successful.” says Bishop Larry D. Trotter of the Sweet Holy Spirit Church of Chicago.
