DURING MEMORIAL DAY HOLIDAY

 

TEXT AND EMAIL LINES CREATED TO OFFSET “TEEN TAKEOVER” RESULTED ZERO OCCURRENCES DURING MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND

 

WALKER AND OTHER LEADERS TO URGE THE CITY OF CHICAGO AND BUSINESS LEADERS TO ASSIST WITH FUNDING TO KEEP THE LINE ALIVE

 

Early Walker-CEO of I’m Telling, Don’t Shoot- will be joined by Community Leaders, and Clergy leaders to announce the success of the Parent for Chicago communication line that has halted four planned “Teen Takeovers” in Chicago. The group will also detail the information gathered concerning the 2:00 PM planned Teen Takeover scheduled for today. Today is the official last day of school for Chicago Public School students.

On April 18th, Early Walker introduced his “Parents of Chicago” text and email communication lines that were adopted by the Chicago Police Department in a joint response to the recent “Teen Takeovers “within Chicago.

By texting "CHICAGOKIDS" to "21000", parents have been able sign up for these communications. These notifications have made it easier for parents to be informed of gatherings their children may be at and have helped prevent their children from engaging in dangerous and disorderly conduct.

After introducing the Parents for Chicago to the public, thousands of parents have sign ed up as members and have shared hundreds of messages and key information that led to four planned takeovers during the recent Memorial Holiday weekend being halted and canceled.

Mr. Walker and his “I’m Telling, Don’t Shoot “organization have solely financed this initiative. But Walker is hopeful that other business leaders will join in the campaign.

“I have been forced to finance this initiative alone. The initiative has rapidly garnered thousands of members and has increased the operations cost. I am urging Mayor Johnson and the City of Chicago, along with business leaders to assist me in keeping Parents for Chicago alive.”

Walker adds, “It’s apparent that this unruly behavior of some of our youth has caused great harm to the health and welfare of the city of Chicago. The “Parents of Chicago” lines were established to create a database of parents who would like to be informed when these deplorable acts of reckless conduct are being performed. But it also gives parents the opportunity to utilize this line when they learn of the next demonstration being organized by teenagers.”
