HOSTS 3rd ANNUAL HOPE IN A SUITCASE EVENT

MAY 25, 2023 – CRETE, ILLINOIS – The Will County Black Diamond Chapter (WCBD) of Top Ladies of Distinction (TLOD), Inc. will host our 3rd Annual Hope in a Suitcase event which collects new and “gently loved” luggage and overnight bags for children in foster care. In the spring of 2020, the community partnerships committee learned that many children in foster care were transporting their belongings in garbage bags when transitioning to new homes. We found that disturbing and sought to change that narrative to give children hope during a stressful time. Hope in a Suitcase provides children with a new or “gently loved” bag of their own with a luggage tag giving them a sense of pride and ownership.

This year we are excited to host our 3rd Annual Hope in A Suitcase event with our Community Partner, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illinois, on Saturday, June 3, 2023, from 10 am-1 pm. Donations may be dropped off at the Blue Door Neighborhood Center, 11840 S. Marshfield, Chicago, IL 60643. Monetary donations to purchase luggage may be sent via Zelle to treasurer@wcblackdiamondtlog.

Top Ladies of Distinction, Inc. (TLOD) is a non-profit educational, humanitarian organization that was chartered in the state of Texas on September 8, 1964. Our Motto is: “Servicing Youth and Adults.” Since
its inception, the organization has expanded its objectives to include its focus on youth (known as Top Teens of America), improving the Status of Women, Service to Senior Citizens, Community Beautification, and Community Partnerships. Membership in TLOD has grown to include thousands of dedicated, concerned, hardworking members. The Ladies represent a cross-section of resourceful woman power, all of whom work in the interest of the more than 4,000 Top Teens. Top Ladies support other major thrusts
of the organization geared toward enhancing the quality of life for our fellow human beings.
