Great Lakes Credit Union Leads Charge in School Supply Drive to Benefit Local Schools
BANNOCKBURN, Ill. – Illinois-based Great Lakes Credit Union (GLCU) is thrilled to announce the launch of a community-wide school supply drive, running through August 4, at each of their branches across the region. The credit union aims to use this initiative to provide essential school supplies to local elementary schools and help put big smiles on the faces of young students starting the new school year.
"Education is the cornerstone of a strong community, and we're committed to supporting it in any way we can," said Steve Bugg, President and CEO of GLCU. "One of the simple joys of starting a new school year is the excitement that comes with new school supplies. Unfortunately, this is a pleasure that many children in our community are denied due to financial constraints. We want to change that."
In the spirit of embodying their core value of community involvement, GLCU is inviting all members and the public to contribute whatever they can to this noble cause. Donation boxes will be set up at each branch, where members can donate various school supplies such as binders, notebooks, pens, pencils, crayons, backpacks, and more.
"We're asking our members to join us in this effort to ensure every student starts the school year equipped for success. Even a small donation, such as a pack of pencils or a notebook, can make a significant difference in a child's education," said Bugg.
By participating in this school supply drive, the members of GLCU can directly contribute to their community, supporting local schools and helping children to thrive academically. The donated supplies will be collected through August 4 and delivered directly to local elementary schools in the area.
"We're aiming to overflow our donation boxes and fill our community's schools with the resources they need for a successful year of learning. Together, let’s put GREAT big smiles on lots of small faces," added Bugg.
Founded in 1938 and headquartered in Northern Illinois, Great Lakes Credit Union is banking for a greater good.
