WIFE OF POPULAR PUBLICIST ELECTED AS FIRST AFRICAN AMERICAN TO THE BLUE ISLAND PARK DISTRICT
(Blue Island, Illinois) The wife of a prominent publicist has now been elected as the first African American Commissioner of the Blue Island Park District. Recently Commissioner Tonya Howard began her tenure on the popular Park District Board after capturing 100% of the vote in the April General Election.
“I am grateful, honored and blessed that Democratic Committeeman Bob Rita approached me about running for this particular seat. Committeeman Rita has often advocated for diversity and inclusion throughout Calumet Township. “says Commissioner Howard.
Tonya Howard is no stranger to many throughout the southland. She is happily married to popular and well-regarded Southland Spokesman, Sean Howard. Together they have participated in many philanthropic projects throughout Cook County.
The news of Commissioner Howard’s election has brought many smiles and accolades throughout Cook County.
“I am thrilled to know that Tonya’s voice is being added to the mix in Blue Island. She has the exact tone and temperament that will aid the current mix of Commissioners. I have already heard that they have truly welcomed her with open arms.” Says Rich Township Democratic Committeemen and Supervisor Calvin Jordan.
Chicago Alderman Stephanie Coleman adds, “I love Commissioner Howard. I was honored to travel to Cancun for her and Sean’s wedding. They are true pillars of the community. She will be an outstanding Commissioner”
