(Chicago, Il,) Early Walker-CEO of I’m Telling, Don’t Shoot- will be join by Community Leaders, and the Parent for Chicago Organization to announce the success of the Parent for Chicago Communication Line that has led youth who were formerly involved with “Teen Takeover” to now be hired and enrolled in a culinary job training program. These teens had been arrested not only for their role in the infamous “Teen Takeovers,” but also for other crimes such as carjacking.
Over the past month Early Walker through his social media platforms, appealed to parents whose kids were involved with Teen Takeover to have their respective children to join his all-new jobs program in which he established with the help of several business leaders. In fact, many of these above mentioned youth have enrolled. However, Mr. Walker will send a clarion call to the public to have parents enlist their kids in the new initiative.
“The Culinary industry is a great start for many of these youths. The Jerk 48 restaurant has stepped up tremendously to offer these previously troubled youth the opportunity to a paradigm shift in their lives. It is really astonishing to hear the many stories in which these young people have experienced in the streets of Chicago. I’m grateful to the other businesses who have embraced us”
The parents of the youth will stand by their side as they will speak publicly to why they were involved in Teen Takeover as well as their role in carrying out other criminal acts in which they have been prosecuted.
On April 18th, Early Walker introduced his “Parents of Chicago” text and email communication lines that were adopted by the Chicago Police Department in a joint response to the recent “Teen Takeovers “within Chicago.
By texting "CHICAGOKIDS" to "21000", parents have been able sign up for these communications. These notifications have made it easier for parents to be informed of gatherings their children may be at and have helped prevent their children from engaging in dangerous and disorderly conduct.
After introducing the Parents for Chicago to the public, thousands of parents have signed up as members and have shared hundreds of messages and key information that led to four planned takeovers during the recent Memorial Holiday weekend being halted and canceled.
Mr. Walker and his “I’m Telling, Don’t Shoot “organization have solely financed this initiative. But Walker is hopeful that other business leaders will join in the campaign.
“I have been forced to finance this initiative alone. The initiative has rapidly garnered thousands of members and has increased the operations cost. I am urging Mayor Johnson and the City of Chicago, along with business leaders to assist me in keeping Parents for Chicago alive.”
Walker adds, “It’s apparent that this unruly behavior of some of our youth has caused great harm to the health and welfare of the city of Chicago. The “Parents of Chicago” lines were established to create a database of parents who would like to be informed when these deplorable acts of reckless conduct are being performed. But it also gives parents the opportunity to utilize this line when they learn of the next demonstration being organized by teenagers.”
“I applaud Early Walker and CPD Director Glen Brooks who collaborated to establish this line of communication. Early Walker continues to bring these outstanding methods to our government officials in effort to deter crime in our neighborhoods. With community engagement, “Parents for Chicago” communication line will be extremely successful.” says Bishop Larry D. Trotter of the Sweet Holy Spirit Church of Chicago.
