16TH WARD ALDERMAN STEPHANIE COLEMAN SET TO HOST
GROCERY TOWN HALL WITH OFFICIALS
& MEMBERS OF THE ENGLEWOOD 5
Alderman Stephanie Coleman of the 16th Ward is set to host “Let’s Talk: Grocery Town Hall” with members of the Englewood 5. The highly anticipated conversation has sparked the attention of various officials as we approach colder temperatures in Chicago. Many local residents relying heavily on government assistance have various fears and reservations about the upcoming recession. Alderman Stephanie Coleman is hoping to minimize their worries.
“Many of the local residents worry about where they’ll receive their next meals amid recession talks. I aim to develop various solutions to reassure them of lacking nothing and being provided with a surplus of healthy food options. Nobody should ever worry about where their next meal will come from and if they'll have access to it. Englewood residents deserve more importantly to have healthy food options to provide them the nutrients to thrive,” says Alderman Coleman.
The conversation will be joined by Alderman Rodrick Sawyer (6th Ward), Alderman Raymond Lopez (15th Ward), Alderman David Moore (17th Ward), and Alderman Jeanette Taylor of the 20th Ward. Hopefully, this conversation will attract the voices of those willing to help residents and bridge the gap with various food deserts, especially as we enter the holiday season.
“My dream is that there is an abundance of resources readily available for Chicago residents in every ward. That’s my dream,” says Alderman Stephanie Coleman.
Proud sponsors of this conversation are Teamwork Englewood, Grow Greater Englewood, Greater Englewood (Community Development Corporation), Englewood Square (Shops of 63rd & Halsted), Department of Planning and Development, DSS, and State Representative Sonya Harper.
