Mayor Henyard responds to Appellate Court ruling that
recall efforts were “invalid”

Following is a statement from Dolton Mayor Tiffany Henyard in response to the ruling by Appellate Court Presiding Justice Delort on Friday that efforts by members of the Board of Trustees of the Village of Dolton to recall Mayor Henyard are wholly unconstitutional and without merit:

“Today, the Appellate Court has affirmed what we already knew to be true–that the cynical attempt by members of the Dolton Board of Trustees to overrule the will of the voters by creating a farcical recall election was dishonest and unconstitutional. The people
of Dolton elected me in a fair and free election, and these efforts to mislead and manipulate them have been an utter and shameless waste of taxpayer dollars and time. The trustees have accomplished nothing other than lining the pockets of their clouted attorneys with public money that could have otherwise
been spent responsibly on matters of import to the residents of the Village. I will continue to serve as Mayor of Dolton with integrity and a commitment to put the needs of our constituents first. I’m ready to work together with anyone who shares those values and goals. But I urge our residents to take note of those
so-called leaders in our community who continue to play games with our tax dollars and who seek to undermine our very democratic processes, as the Appellate Court laid bare for all to see today.”
