(Burnham, IL) Robert Polk-Mayor of the Village of Burnham-will be joined by state officials, local officials and the Burnham Village Board in announcing and breaking ground for the new construction plans that have begun for a Multi-Use path. D Construction, Inc. has been awarded the Hot-Mix Asphalt (HMA) contract located between Torrence Ave, Hoxie Ave, 145th St, and 143rd St. The Mayor and Village Board approved the path design, completed by Robinson Engineering Ltd. The multi-use path will include two different access points from the existing alley located between Hoxie Ave and Torrence Ave. A third access/connection point is expected to be constructed to connect the multi-use path with Dolton, Calumet City & Burnham Cal-Sag Trail extension.

The multi-use path is approximately 1,650 feet in length and features a 0.25-mile loop for continuous recreational activities such as walking, running, and biking. Construction is expected to begin Fall of 2022 with completion of the project in Spring of 2023. The new multi-use path is expected to be a place for Village residents to enjoy and continue to come together as a community.

Among the new developments, The Village of Burnham is a recipient of the “Invest in Cook Grant.” The grant is sponsored by The Cook County Department of Transportation and Highway, which has allocated all the funds to be utilized for the construction of this project. Mayor Robert Polk is tremendously grateful for this new development.

“I’m pleased that this new multi-path will be accessible for Burnham residents and surrounding neighbors. We want our residents to have an opportunity to experience the best parts of healthy living, and this path will be a great addition to that. This is one of many items we’re super excited for as we head into 2023,” says Mayor Robert Polk.
