A new event is coming for those who want to experience Summertime Chi and support Black owned wine makers. Célébrez en Rosé Wine & Music Festival is set for Saturday, June 25th, which is also International Rosé Day, at Burnham Park, 4100 S. Lake Shore Drive.
The event, which will feature wine from La Fête du Rosé from La Fête Wine Company, Black Girl Magic Rosé from McBride Sisters Wine Company and Iris Rosé from Michael Lavelle Wines is the brainchild of Cleveland Spears, III.

Spears is the Founder, President and CEO of the Spears Group, an advertising agency that specializes in multicultural marketing, as well as events and experiential marketing. In 2011, The Spears Group partnered with Dinner en Blanc to lead its Southern expansion and brought the pop-up event where guests dress in white and enjoy a catered meal to New Orleans, Atlanta and Houston.

Spears is also responsible for the National Fried Chicken Festival in New Orleans. The event brings chefs all across the country to compete for the best fried chicken in the country and the most creative dishes that use fried chicken. That event has grown in attendance to 180,000 in one weekend.

Célébrez en Rosé is French for celebrate in pink. The event is a celebration of all things Rosé, wine, champagne and cocktails. It is also a celebration of the Rosé lifestyle, summer fun, relaxation, while people look fashionable in their pink ensembles and take photos with a picnic. Guests also can enjoy live music from Robin Thicke, MC Lyte and Mýa. Chicago area DJs and bands will be included in the live music entertainment.

The concept for Célébrez en Rosé comes from the Veuve Cliquot Polo Classic, where fashion is at the forefront of the event. Guests will receive a pink picnic blanket and can take advantage of the photo installation to make moments with their friends.

This year, the event, which was founded in Atlanta in 2018, has expanded to include Houston and Chicago. Spears wanted to bring the event to Chicago because The Spears Group believes in bringing its concepts to top US cities they think will enjoy it.

“We think Chicago is a great city that has a very sophisticated citizenry, a citizenry that we think will like it. We know Chicagoans look forward to the summertime, due to your long and aggressive winters.  This is an early summer concept to get folks in the spirit of summer,” Spears said.

Spears also talked about Chicago’s beautiful lakefront, which is where the event will be located. He thought Chicago would be a natural fit based on the experience the company creates and they believe Chicagoans will enjoy it.

Guests will drink wines from all Black-owned wine companies. Michael Lavelle Wine Company has Chicago ties.  “Michael Lavelle Wines aims to change the luxury experience by being accessible not only in Michelin star restaurants but also in local stores and at cultural events like the Célébrez en Rosé Festival," Terrence Low, Founder and Head of House, Michael Lavelle Wines, said in a release. “We're excited to further our commitment to providing unmatched wine experiences and shining a light on high-quality, premium wine alongside these other amazing wine companies."

There will be food from local restaurants and food trucks. Guests also can bring their own picnic style lunch for the event. With every event Spears hosts, he makes it a point to focus on Black-owned companies. They are intentional with who they bring on to partner with. The goal is to make an impact for Black-owned wineries so they can scale and grow, as well as introduce the brand to new people.
“We believe in using our events as a platform to help other Black businesses,” Spear said.

Tickets range from $85 for general admission to $5,000 for a VIP cabana, which includes 10 guests. To purchase tickets, visit https://celebrezenrose.com/.
