 “Heart of a Warrior” Contest Announces Chicago Winner

Chicago, IL – For the last month, the United States Army has
been recognizing outstanding high school athletes in the Chicago Area through the “Heart of a Warrior” digital campaign. This campaign was sponsored by the US Army and activated by BRAINBOX Immersive Marketing. Five nominees shared their stories, displaying exceptional leadership skills, community service and overcoming adversity while exemplifying the same heart of a warrior that is displayed by the US Army. Their communities were encouraged to vote for the student athlete who most represented the ideals of the Heart of a Warrior campaign, but only one winner was chosen as the 2022 “Heart of a Warrior” Honor Recipient.

Recently, after over 2,500 votes were cast across the Chicago area, Owen McGuire from Plainfield South High School was honored as the winner.

“We are excited to honor Owen with his service to the Chicago
community. He exemplifies the Army’s heart of a warrior by standing out as a leader among his peers and making an impact in his community. We wish all the nominee’s success in their continued community efforts!” - Lt. Col. Shane Doolan, Commander of the Chicago Recruiting Battalion 
Owen said “This award means so much to me because it not only reflects my perseverance and hard work as a student athlete, but that
of those who got me to this point such as my parents, friends, coaches, teammates and teachers. I will continue to show respect, responsibility, hard work and compassion to live up to this honor.”.
