EXPAND HEALTH SERVICES IN SUMMIT
SUMMIT, Ill. – In partnership with the Village of Summit,
the National Alliance on Mental Illness Metro Suburban (NAMI Metro Suburban) and BEDS Plus Care held a ribbon cutting to celebrate the grand opening of two new community resources focused on expanding mental and physical health care services in the Summit, Berwyn, Justice, and Cicero communities. The ceremony was held at NAMI Metro Suburban’s new Individual Placement and Support (IPS) facility and also commemorated the grand opening of BEDS Plus Care’s new Linda Sokol Francis Summit Service Center which will provide interim housing for homeless individuals as they heal from medical ailments.
“The last few years have been extremely challenging for
all of us, but even more so for our young people and community members experiencing mental health conditions or homelessness,” said Sergio Rodriguez, Mayor of the Village of Summit. “We are so grateful that NAMI Metro Suburban and BEDS Plus Care have made this commitment to further cement their impact in Summit and provide innovative and impactful services for those in need.”
NAMI Metro Suburban expands its successful Individual
Placement and Support employment program through the new physical location right next to its Summit Living Room. The organization’s evidence-based IPS program will help both adults and transitional youth (ages 18-24) living with a mental health diagnosis throughout the Summit, Berwyn, Justice, and Cicero communities access services that promote recovery through employment and education. Individuals visiting the new Summit location will have access to bilingual staff and supports to help them achieve steady, meaningful employment in mainstream competitive jobs.
“We are thrilled to expand our services and reach in Summit,
a community that has been so welcoming to our team,” said
Kimberly Knake, Executive Director, NAMI Metro Suburban.
“We know that it’s crucial to meet people, especially young adults, where they are, and we’re proud to provide a safe space where community members can access the services they need to support their mental wellness and gain meaningful employment.”

“We are proud to open our new facility on West 63rd
Street, right down the block from our partners at NAMI Metro
Suburban,” said Tina Rounds, Chief Executive Officer, BEDS
Plus. “With this new space we will be able to coordinate services and provide vulnerable members of our community with access to housing, mental and physical healthcare, job assistance and other supportive services.”
NAMI Metro Suburban’s new facility is located at 7602
63rd Street and the Linda Sokol Francis Summit Service Center is at 7666 W 63rd St, Summit, IL.
