Liv Warfield is a singer-songwriter who is a Peoria native. Her musical journey began in Portland, but she has been returning to the Midwest for different endeavors. Now she is in Chicago to perform in Cabaret Zazou presents “Luminaire,” which is set to debut on Wednesday, Sept. 7th.
“Luminaire” is from the same producers as Teatro ZinZanni, which combined comedy, cabaret and circus elements, with dinner. Warfield is really excited to be part of this new show.
“In a beautiful, strange way, it’s like my family, it’s circus, comedy, amazing vocal performances, amazing music and the dinner piece of it. I’m really excited about being a part of it, again, but in a different configuration,” Warfield said.
It is something Warfield can’t keep herself from. In describing it, she called it the most exciting, crazy, jaw dropping show she ever experienced. She couldn’t believe all of these circus acts were in a Belgian Zazou tent. The atmosphere is meant to be very intimate.
The cast of World-class acrobats and contortionists kept Warfield on her toes with Teatro ZinZanni. With Luminaire, Warfield went into it very open minded. There is constant preparation and an unexpected energy, the best kind. People should come into Luminaire without any kind of expectation. Nothing is really the same, which makes for a great experience every night.
“I don’t know that there really is a way to prepare for it, but to just know that you’re having fun, stepping into this dream land,” Warfield said. “This is a place, where it’s safe, but a place to let go. The greatest dinner under one of the best and greatest direction from Dreya Weber, she’s our director.”
Audiences can enjoy World-class circus acts, with a beautiful storyline and crazy, amazing singers, which include Warfield, James Harkness and Frank Ferrante. It’s a world where people can release, let go and have a jaw dropping experience on the 14th floor of the Cambria Hotel.
Warfield was drawn to the show, coming from the world of live instrumentation, and live music, as well as the performance acts, and being drawn toward the energy of the performers.
“Having a way to step outside of yourself, as a character to present, just this kind of energy that you want people to see. It feels so intimate, but it feels so big inside. I think that’s what I was drawn to, the music, the wow factor, being able to create this character,” Warfield said.
Warfield, who has worked with Prince and Nancy Wilson of Heart, is devoted to Cabaret ZaZou’s Luminaire but has been working on new music and her next album is set for 2023. The 2023 anticipated album would be a follow-up to her 2014 solo debut “The Unexpected,” which was produced by Prince. She is sure being part of Cabaret Zazou will have some inspiration on the music she creates for that, because she gets to experiment.
Warfield also performed at the Silver Room Block Party in July. It was an incredible experience for her, with all the DJ’s and love from the community. She described it as “dope and really amazing.”
Tickets range from $125 to $210, with special VIP tickets available. Cost for the Show Only” tickets are $75. Special preview tickets for Sept.7th-11th, are available for $99. To purchase tickets, visit CabaretZaZou.com or call 312-488-0900.
