Crow Holdings International is set to build a 758,000 square feet warehouse and distribution center at 21500 Gateway Drive. There also will be 100 exterior loading docks, 380 car parking spaces and 210 tractor trailer spaces.
Sheila Chalmers-Currin, President of the Village of Matteson, described the development as a large endeavor for the Village. This development continues with the economic growth for Matteson, which includes having an Industrial area, as well as retail and residential.
"We are incredibly thankful to partner with CHI and are grateful that they chose the Village of Matteson for the development of this project. We see great promise in their work and look forward to a wonderful working relationship,” she said.
In July, the Village of Matteson broke ground on a new hospice facility, Lightways Hospice and Serious Illness Care. The facility is expected to meet the needs of hospice patients in Matteson.
In 2021, there was a groundbreaking for a 558,000 square foot of a Cannabis Cultivation Production Facility. The 4Front Ventures Corporation is set to bring 500 new jobs to Matteson. The first phase of the facility is set to be completed in 2023.
These new developments come on the heels of an Amazon Distribution Center and Pete’s Fresh Market opening in 2021.
Crow Holdings International is expected the open the warehouse by Spring 2023. “We want to make sure we’re bringing jobs and attracting diverse forms of economic development,” Chalmers-Currin said. “This is ideal, not just for the Village of Matteson, but the Southland as a whole.”
The development of this site fits into what Matteson is doing construction wise and the location, just off I-57 via Cicero and Sauk Trail, allowing drivers to see it and access it, making it a great space. It is one of many developments coming to the Village of Matteson.
“We’re equally excited about our future here in the Village of Matteson and we will continue to be relentless,” Chalmers-Currin said. “The Village of Matteson is on the right track. We have a master plan and a vision that is now coming to fruition.”
