ART ON THEMART TO DISPLAY NEW PROJECTION FEATURING ARTWORK BY CHICAGO PUBLIC SCHOOLS SENIORS

Art on theMART is adding a new projection to their previously announced Spring Program that will feature artwork from eight soon-to-graduate Chicago Public Schools (CPS)
seniors. The artwork for the projection, consisting of self-portraits, was collected in conjunction with CPS’s All-City Visual Arts program. Following a selection process, eight CPS seniors who submitted to the All-City High School Visual Arts Exhibition were selected to have their work featured on the façade of theMART. Students’ artwork was selected based on a score given for technical skill, craftmanship, originality and student voice.

The featured student artworks include: Beaded Ears by Tiffany Delgado | Von Steuben Metropolitan High School
My Hair is Gold by Jimmilee Kabba | Lake View High School
My Happy Girl by Mia Neiman | Amundsen High School
Loving Hands by Ethan Rodriguez | Nicholas Senn High School Bolanos_Judith3 by Judith Bolanos | Ombudsman Chicago South Campus Self Portrait by Robin Lockhart | Lindblom Math and Science Academy Concealment by Rachel DeVeyra | Chicago High School for the Arts

Wandering Eye by Frida Mejia | Westinghouse College Prep
An original musical score, composed, produced, engineered
and performed by Liam Lupescu of Nicholas Senn High School, will accompany the piece. The projection, made up of combined works, will join Art on theMART’s climate change-focused spring programming featuring works by Carrie Hanson and localStyle.

“Art on theMART knows the importance of promoting and
recognizing the work of CPS students,” said Cynthia Noble,
executive director of Art on theMART. “Previously, we have
shared CPS students’ work through our Hope is a Light projection in 2021, as well as After School Matter’s Shaping TheFuture, which finished off 2021’s winter season and featured stunning mosaics and original music composed by students.
Art on theMART is proud to demonstrate the talent and potential of Chicago’s students.”

Art on theMART can best be experienced for free from
