Virtual events highlight Illinois women in government and in business during Women’s History Month
The celebration includes a series of virtual events featuring women in government and business as the agency promotes diversity and inclusion in public service and statewide hiring.
“Without question, the contributions of women continue to transform the way we work and live,” said CMS Director Janel L. Forde. “CMS is proud to shine a light on women in all areas of government, business and leadership. We hope to inspire the next generation of future leaders and encourage women to work for the State of Illinois at all levels.”
CMS oversees the recruitment and counseling of potential employees on behalf of State agencies. The State of Illinois is an Equal Opportunity Employer (EEO) and does not discriminate against individual’s sex, race, age, disability, color, creed, national origin, religion, or genetic information.
The State of Illinois currently employs 22,744 women, many of whom are in leadership positions. Currently, 22 State agencies are run by women. Within CMS, 20 of 38 leadership positions are occupied by women.
“CMS is committed to ensuring a state workforce that truly reflects the diversity of the people we serve,” said CMS Chief Administrative Officer Mark Mahoney. “Guaranteeing that women have equal opportunities and equal pay is part of that commitment to full equity and inclusion for all employees.”
