AWARE for All- Midwest is a program that aims to educate communities about clinical trials and how to participate.
The AWARE for All - Midwest event is being held on Thursday, July 22nd from 4:30-6:00 PM CDT. This free 90-minute webinar offers attendees the chance to hear personal stories from clinical trial participants and healthcare professionals. The panel discussion will feature Lynne Jordan, a COVID-19 vaccine trial participant, Nia Grant, a Type 1 Diabetes trial participant, and Dorelia Rivera, a caregiver and rare disease advocate with experience navigating clinical trials. Additionally, this panel includes the perspective of healthcare professionals, featuring Dr. Anna Lok, Dr. Manish Jain, and Holly Milaeger, MPH.
In a conversation about clinical trials, the panelists will answer questions from viewers and share their own unique stories and experiences. The panel discussion addresses the importance of diversity in clinical trials, how barriers to participation can be overcome, and how researchers can effectively acknowledge the concerns of minority communities when it comes to clinical trial participation. The panelists also share the importance of building trust between participants and clinical research teams to ease anxiety and concerns.
AWARE for All – Midwest also includes an Informational Exhibit Center with over 30 organizations sharing their resources, a Health & Wellness Pavilion featuring health exercises and tips, and a theater with short educational videos about clinical trials. The Informational Exhibit Center includes exhibits presented by Biogen, Janssen, Ostuka, Pfizer, IQVIA, CSL Behring, EMD Serono, WCG, Novartis, and Genentech, in addition to local advocacy organizations from the Midwest and across the country such as Great Lakes Clinical Trials, Indigenous Peoples Task Force, and The Chrysalis Initiative.
