VETERAN FIREFIGHTER PASSED AWAY SUDDENLY WHILE
VACATIONING IN THE DOMINICAN REPUBLIC
“OUR HEARTS ARE HEAVY” SAYS MAYOR HENYARD
Tiffany Henyard-Mayor of Dolton, Ill—is announcing the sudden death of 21-year veteran Dolton Fire Engineer Robert Morgan who passed away while vacationing in the Dominican Republic. Morgan was 50 years of age and served as a Fire Engineer for the department. He was discovered in his hotel room this morning (7/7). The official cause of death has yet to be determined.
“Our hearts are heavy as our beloved Robert has made his transition. Robert was a tireless worker and one of the most genuine persons within our administration. His contributions not only to the upward mobility of the Dolton Fire Department, but to the Dolton community at large was second to none.” says Mayor Henyard.
Officer Morgan had served in many capacities within the department, but he thoroughly enjoyed his position as Engineer. On this coming July 17th, Morgan would have officially celebrated his 21st year as a Dolton Fireman. Morgan was to have flown back to Chicago last night and returned to work this morning. However, his mother visited the Dolton Fire Station this morning to inform Dolton Fire Chef Pete McCain of her son’s passing.
“Fire Engineer Morgan has been a dedicated member of the Fire Department for 21-years, serving our residents proudly. Bobby was a son, a father, and a great friend. He was loved by all and will be missed by his fire service family.” says Dolton Fire Chief Pete McCain.
Mayor Henyard adds, “On behalf of myself, the Village Board of Trustees and the 26,000 residents of Dolton, we send our heartfelt condolences to the family of Robert Morgan. Earth has no sorrow that heaven cannot heal.”
