MAYOR LIGHTFOOT TO SPEAK AT NOBEL WOMEN’S WELCOME BREAKFAST

Senator Mattie Hunter to Host Legislators at NOBEL Women’s Conference in Chicago

On behalf of the Illinois NOBEL Women Delegation, Senator Mattie Hunter (D-IL) will chair the 34th Annual National Organization of Black Elected Legislative Women’s Conference Breaking Through the Ceiling: My Role. My Future, running from June 27 to June 30 at the Gwen Hotel Chicago.

Chicago’s Mayor Lori Lightfoot to headline the welcome breakfast on Friday, June 28, at 8:00 a.m. by greeting all elected officials and attendees to Chicago, along with Sen. Hunter and NOBEL Women’s President State Representative Karen Camper (D-TN) who is also a Chicago native. Additionally, the Cook County Board President Tony Preckwinkle and Clerk of the Circuit Court Dorthy Brown to participate on the Breaking Through the Ceiling panel to discuss how they have risen to the top as female powerhouses in the Illinois political sphere.

On Saturday, June 29, State Representatives Sonya Harper (D-IL) will moderate a panel on Cannabis and the direction of legalization where State Representative Sandra Scott (D-GA) will participate starting at 10:55 AM. Congresswoman Robin Kelly (D-IL), Lt. Governor Juliana Stratton, and Sen. Hunter will host the Lessons in Leadership panel and luncheon starting at 12:00 PM. To round out the day, U.S. Senator Tammy Duckworth (D-IL) will have a fireside chat with State Rep. Camper on Power to Pathways starting at 2:00 PM. Also, Senator Toi Hutchison will receive the NOBEL Women’s National Shining Star Award, and State Representative Carol Ammons will be receiving the Local Shining Star Award, starting at 6:00 PM.

Sunday, June 30, will conclude the conference with a private Gospel Brunch starting at 8:00 AM.
