Summer Program Offerings in Hyde Park
Step into summer with a host of fun-filled outdoor activities in the Chicago region offered by the Frank Lloyd Wright Trust. Programs are held at Wright’s Home and Studio, located at 951 Chicago Avenue in Oak Park, and the Robie House, located at 5757 South Woodlawn Avenue in Chicago (Hyde Park).
Free popup workshops with design activities for children ages Pre-K to 5th grade will be offered inside the courtyard, Thursdays at the Robie House and Fridays at the Home and Studio, July 11 – August 9.
Art-making activities will will include origami, printmaking, LEGO building, sketching and sun prints. No registration necessary.
Frank Lloyd Wright’s Home and Studio in Oak Park will host an Open House on Thursday, August 15, 5-6:30 pm. This family-friendly event includes stationed tours of the Home and Studio, refreshments and art activities for children in the courtyard.
Robie House visitors are invited to experience a new self-guided walking audio tour in eight languages, telling the story of the house in its historic and contemporary setting in Hyde Park. Also available is a guided interior tour of the magnificently restored house with expanded access to public areas of the house and detailed information about its history and design.
Other summer programs include Pedal Oak Park, a guided bicycle weekend tour of 21 Wright-designed structures in Oak Park. Bicycle rental is included in admission or bring your own bike.
