The Coalition of African American Leaders (COAL) kicks off its 2019 Coalition Power Breakfast series by hosting attorney James D. Montgomery, Sr. The monthly breakfast will be held on Saturday, January 5, from 8:30AM until 11:00AM at BJ’s Market, 8734 S. Stony Island and is a platform to examine issues and important areas of focus relevant to business leaders and the African American community.

“With the advent of a new year, COAL will use the January breakfast as a positive and inspirational kickoff to 2019, a year that starts out both as one characterized by the myriad of barriers that challenge our ability to address many of our most intransigent issues and yet one that will present a number of truly substantive opportunities to make real change happen for our community,” said COAL chairman Clarence Wood. “We are honored to host Attorney Montgomery, one of our community’s most revered and respected leaders and legal professionals, a nationally-recognized expert trial attorney and champion for justice.”

Montgomery will share his perspective on the political environment in Chicago and Cook County, as well as recommendations for increasing and/or leveraging political power towards improving the quality of life for Black people. In addition, he will reflect on his life and career, as well as share life lessons and insights gained over the decades and captured in his newly published autobiography, Full Circle: Race, Law & Justice – Inside My Life, which was co-authored by Walter M. Perkins and Michelle Thompson and published by Third World Press Foundation.

The public is invited to attend and RSVP is encouraged. For more information, contact Clarence Wood, chairman, at 312-404-8269, or Craig Wimberly, president and chair of public policy, at 773-350-9315.
