Township Spokesperson Says: “Thornton Township Government Is Needed”
Thornton Township Spokesman Ernst Lamothe Jr, Public and Community Relations Manager in a radio interview with WJOB 1230AM/104.7FM discussed the reason why Township government is important to constituents. Mr. Lamothe said, “Township government serves as a safety net for local communities.”
Mr. Lamothe told listeners that, “Thornton Township provides services in the following areas: township hires teenagers giving them their first opportunity for employment; secondly, the township operates a food pantry in Harvey, Illinois where 1,000 families are served every month; township operates a general assistance program helping 200 or more families make the transition to full and part-time employment; senior lawn care programs and special services for people with disabilities.”
Thornton Township is the largest township in the Illinois. It consists of 17 cities and has approximately 183,000 residents. Mr. Lamothe further stated, “Our Supervisor President Zuccarelli does not have a problem with crossing state lines. He believes in helping others.”
Mr. Frank M. Zuccarelli has been the President of Thornton Township since April 1993. Mr. Zuccarelli heads up a four-member Board of Trustees.
Mr. Lamothe said, “Township government is very critical to local communities. Things may fall through the cracks in local government.”
Lamothe summarized the interview with “we believe that we want to help real people who are in need.”
