Thornton Township To Host Its 1st Annual Taste Tourney &

16th annual Taste

On Saturday, August 19th from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thornton Township will host its Annual Taste. The event, located at 333

E. 162nd Street in South Holland, featuring a live performance by The Dramatics. The Dramatics are an American soul

music vocal group that were originally formed in Detroit, Michigan in 1964 known then as The Dynamics. In 1966, the

group's name was changed from The Dynamics to The Dramatics.

New this year, Thornton Township will feature a one-day basketball tournament where police officers and teens compete

together on the same team for the pride of their town. Ten police departments within Thornton Township will compete in the

single-day tournament. The purpose is to create an event where the community can come together and support each other. It

is an extension of Thornton Township Supervisor Frank M. Zuccarelli's Faith, Dignity & Respect Initiative.

The day will also include a large selection of food and craft vendors, free back to school haircuts, free bookbags with school

supplies, carnival rides, bingo, classic cars

and a petting zoo.

"Every year we try to make the event even better. Between the Dramatics and the basketball tournament that is meant to

promote unity in our communities our Thornton Township residents are going to have a lot of great entertainment to

choose from," said Zuccarelli.
