Law & Community Training: Re-building Trust Between Youth, Community and Police

Kick-Off Slated for August 31, 2016

WGCI’s Afternoon Personality Tone Kapone and the WGCI Street Team will be onsite to help kickoff the Law & Community Training Youth Conference on August 31 from 10 am to 1 pm at the South Suburban College Field House located on 15800 S. State Street in South Holland. Kapone will broadcast two 30-second call-ins to WGCI Radio Station, Facebook Live and Social Post from the event.

The event is being hosted by Thornton Township Supervisor Frank M. Zuccarelli and its Board of Trustees; featuring National Organization of Black Law Enforcement Executives (NOBLE). NOBLE will provide the training, which includes PowerPoint instruction, modeling, role play, audience participation, etc.

Attending the training will be 1000 high school Juniors and Seniors from Thornton Fractional High School District 215 and Thornton Township High School District 205. The training is designed to improve their communications with law enforcement officers and their understanding of their federal, state and local laws and civil rights when interacting with law enforcement.

Tyson III (Chicago Annual Conference, African Methodist Episcopal Church) featuring National Organization of Black Law Enforcement Executives (NOBLE) members; Police Chief of South Holland Greg Baker; Attorney Carla Kupe-Arion; Deputy Police Chief of South Holland Shawn Staples; Honorable Circuit Court Judge William H. Hooks(Felony Criminal Division of the Circuit Court of Cook County); Thornton Township High School District 205 Superintendent Dr. Leotis D. Swopes and
