IL State Rep. Rita, Blue Island Officials Provide Update on Division Street Bridge
Ill. State Rep. Rita led an event Tuesday evening that outlined the a timeline for the Division Street Bridge in Blue Island, Ill., which closed five years ago after experiencing significant decay.
Rita told those gathered just south of the bridge that he helped secure state funding for the project costing nearly $7 million that is scheduled to be completed next summer.
“We have waited a long time to see progress on getting this bridge reopened, but I am happy to report the work is starting now. I am hopeful vehicles will once again be able to travel this important bridge in my hometown by next summer,” Rita said.
In October of last year, Rita announced that the city of Blue Island would be receiving $500,000 in state funds for the repair of the Division Street Bridge.
A date for the re-opening of the Division Street Bridge in Blue Island was unavailable at press time.
