CPD Shuts Down Dogfighting Ring in Fuller Park
Chicago Police (CPD) have arrested and charged a Fuller Park man responsible for running a dog-fighting operation out of his residence last week.
According to police officials, Clifford McNeil, of the 4700 block of South Shields Avenue, was charged with eight felony counts of aggravated cruelty to animals, two felony counts of dog fighting, 16 misdemeanor counts of animal owner duties violation, along with eight misdemeanor counts of cruelty to animals.
On Friday, September 04, 2015, at approximately 10:00 a.m., CPD officers gained entry into the yard and garage of a residence on the 4800 block of South Shields Avenue where they discovered several gaunt canines along with various paraphernalia used for purposes of dog-fighting and training. CPD’s investigation led to the discovery of narcotics, ammunition and additional adult canines and puppies.
The arrest was made in conjunction with gang investigation animal crimes team officers, SWAT Team officers and 9th Deering District officers.
A total of 16 dogs (seven adults and nine puppies) were recovered and scheduled for treatment and evaluation.
McNeil, 43, appeared in bond court on September 5.
