Mother’s Day Events Around Town
The Annual Mother’s Day Gospel Bowl, one of the largest gospel music concerts held in the Chicagoland area every Mother's Day, embarks on its 28th year and this year will features national gospel artists from all over the world.
Scheduled to take place at the House of Hope, 752 E. 114th St., performers this year include, Grammy award winner, Joe Ligon and The Mighty Clouds of Joy, Lee Williams and Spiritual QC's, Doc Mckenzie and The Hi-Lites, the Jackson Southernaires, Evelyn Turntine Agee, Jewel and Converted, The Golden Bells, The Gospel Legends, The Gospel Crusaders, the Criss Righteous Project, The Victory Travelers and many more.

In Chicago's Hyde Park neighborhood, the 1st Annual Mother's Day Pamper Extravaganza takes place at Gallery Guichard Fine Art Gallery, on May 9, from 12 to 4 p.m.
The event will feature: fine art, entertainment, a “sophisticated” brunch, festive music, refreshing mimosas and amazing spa treatments.
Gallery Guichard is also looking for the Chicago area's Mother of the Year. If you or a mother you know has exemplified excellence, strength and grace over the past year, please nominate yourself or that mother and include a brief summary of why you or she should win the award.
A portion of the proceeds will benefit Prosperity House Inc., a 501c3 organization, committed to assisting homeless and battered women and children.

A Mother’s Day Shopping Event takes place from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., at Fosco Park, 1321 S. Racine Ave. Shoppers can select from an array of shoes, purses, jewelry, clothing and more.
A $5 donation is required at the door. Proceeds will go to the Women’s Treatment Center, at 140 N. Ashland Ave.
