30th Annual Matteson Family Days Festival Announced
The 30th Annual Matteson Family Days festival, an event staple for the Village of Matteson, is taking place on Friday, June 27 through Saturday, June 28, at the Matteson Village Hall, 4900 Village Commons. This year’s festival is headlined by multi-platinum selling R&B group, En Vogue, on Friday night and Grammy award winning artist, Peabo Bryson, on Saturday night.
"We are very pleased with this year's entertainment line-up as well as all of the vendors, events and activities scheduled for our 30th Annual Matteson Family Days festival," said Matteson Community Affairs Director Toni Ashmore. "Our hope is to provide a joyous experience and family fun atmosphere for our residents and visitors attending the festival."
“Each year, entertainment is selected by the Matteson Family Days committee in collaboration with the village president and elected officials,” said Matteson Communications Specialist Steven Hurley, Jr. “The festival’s stage will also feature local opening acts including smooth urban jazz group Delivery Point Band on Friday and Narski Music Artist Review starring vocalist BabiDoll, keyboardist Chris Allison and saxophonist Reggie F. on Saturday.”
The Matteson Family Days festival provides the community with family entertainment, activities and attractions for children and appetizing food, etc. Formerly known as the Matteson Fest, the festival took a two year hiatus before being rebranded as the Matteson Family Days festival.
“Local vendors from Matteson and surrounding areas [will] participate,” said Hurley, Jr. “Vendors scheduled to participate include Bar Louie, Jamaican Jerk Flavors and Giordano’s Pizza (opening late summer), and sponsors OneMain Financial and the Matteson Auto Mall. We ask community members for input on entertainment and activities for the festival. Residents and others from the area also volunteer to assist us at the festival each year.”
Last year, the Brooks Family Blues Dynasty, Freddie Jackson and Jeffrey Osborne performed. In previous years, Mavis Staples, Tony, Toni, Tone, The Chi-Lites, and Eddie Clearwater were headliners.
