Cops: 1 dead, 1 critical after shooting in downtown Chicago high-rise
CHICAGO — Chicago police report one person is dead and another critical after a shooting inside a downtown high-rise office building.
Police spokesman Martin Maloney says the two people were shot this morning. No other details were immediately released, but an officer came out of the building in the city’s business district saying the situation was contained around 10:40 a.m.
A worker in the building says building security sent an email around 10 a.m. saying there was a security situation in the lobby and asking them to stay at their desks.
Crime scene tape is now cordoning off the Bank of America building, where shooting occurred. Dozens of workers from other buildings in the area are gathering outside.
