Chicago’s own Rosemarie Black, aka “Racetrack Rosie” has died. Black was a stripper and was extremely recognizable on Chicago’s south side mainly because of the humongous cowboy hats and colorful form fitting clothes she wore which showcased her voluptuous figure. Reportedly Black worked as an exotic dancer until she was 60 years old.
Black was commonly spotted near the White Castle restaurant on 79th and Stony Island or by the McDonald’s near 67th and Stony. Often, times passersby would stop and ask Black to take a picture with them. She is survived by her husband of 45 years, Cornelius Black, three daughters, 10 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
