Chatham Girl Kidnapped, Brutally Attacked
Two men were questioned and released in connection with the brutal attack of a 15-year-old South Side girl.
The 15-year-old girl at about 7 p.m., Dec. 21 was taking out garbage to the back of her home in the 400 block of East 83rd St. in the Chatham neighborhood when a black truck carrying six male occupants approached and stopped. One of the men, according to Chicago police, exited the vehicle and told the girl to "Get in the car."
When she refused and tried to walk away, the girl was pistol-whipped over the head and knocked out while they drove her to a residence on the South Side and sexually assaulted her.
After regaining consciousness, the victim said six men speaking a language other than English were taking turns sexually assaulting her. When the men left the room, the girl grabbed her belongings and ran out of the home, noticing the truck parked in the driveway, according to the police.
The police were contacted at about 9:30 p.m. after the girl made it home and called her sister, who in turn, called the police.
Police officers went to the victim's home and she was taken by ambulance to Saint Bernard Hospital and Health Care Center, 326 W. 64th St., police said.
Two men in their 20's were arrested at about 7 p.m. Dec. 22 after the victim identified them as her alleged attackers. The men were questioned and released without charges Dec. 24.
Police officer Jose Estrada said he could not comment on why the men were released or whether or not any DNA testing was done on the men. He did say however, it's possible those men could be brought back in again.
