CFC to hold College Fair
The Chicago Football Classic (CFC) is in its 15th season and the weekend of activities kicks off on September 27, 2012. One of the highlights of the Classic is the Historic Black Colleges and University (HBCU) College Fair scheduled for Saturday, September 29, 2012 from 8:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. in the United Club at Soldier Field.
The CFC encourages African-American students and their families to lift the bar of excellence and achievement. The College Fair exposures Chicago area students to various forms of higher education and post-collegiate professional introductions. Thanks to the Chicago Public Schools and City Colleges of Chicago, the College Fair has become one of the most successful college fairs in the country.
The entire CFC weekend is based on enhancing educational opportunities for our youth and the key to the future of our youth is education, describes co-creator Larry Huggins. If we can make a difference in the hundreds of youngsters that come to the College Fair, then weve done our job as community leaders. Once a young person experiences the HBCU College Fair, we know it will change their lifeand we are very proud of that.
Our College Fair is a true collaboration with the City of Chicago, adds co-creator Tim Rand. We are grateful for the support of Mayor Rahm Emanuel, the Mayors Office of Special Events and City Colleges of Chicago for their partnership. The strength of our supporters is what gives our youngsters a great educational experience.
This year Rand and Huggins expect 30 schools to participate. College representatives will be on hand to inform students on their options and describe what each school offers. When Albany State University and Kentucky State University take the field at Soldier Field on Saturday, September 29th, students who attend the HBCU College Fair will experience first hand what a college education can provide and what the future can hold for them.
