Park Forest Idol Competition Continues
For the third year in a row, the Village of Park Forest is preparing for its annual talent competition and those bestowed with raw talent are encouraged to apply. In the past, only Park Forest residents were allowed to enter the Park Forest Idol Competition. This year, all south suburban residents who feel they have what it takes can participate.
Contestants have a chance at winning a $300 grand prize and an entire year worth of bragging rights. Auditions will be held November 25-26; however interested parties must submit an entry form prior to receiving an audition time from competition officials.
After the first round of auditions, contestants will be notified within a week if they made it to the final round of auditions which will take place on Saturday, Jan. 21, 2012 in Freedom Hall (410 Lakewood Blvd.) in Park Forest. Auditions will run from 7-9 p.m. and winners will be determined by a panel of four judges.
Our Idol winners have gotten great opportunities from participating in the show, so I would encourage people to come ready to give it their all, said Evelyn Sterling, Community Relations Coordinator for the Village of Park Forest.
According to Sterling, past participants have been asked to sing at summer concerts, weddings and one contestant even sang the National Anthem at a Chicago Sky Basketball game which was aired nationally.
If you dont try then you will never know how far you can go, Sterling added.
