Emma Lakes
Occupation: Housekeeping Professional at Alden Lakeland Rehabilitation and Health Care Center
Why does she stand out?
For nearly 40 years, Emma Lakes has been a dedicated housekeeper at Alden Lakeland Rehabilitation and Health Care Center (ALRHCC), assisting residents with their daily chores and ensuring that they are comfortable and content.
Alden Lakeland would not be the same if Emma was not a part of our facility. She is always smiling and does everything she can to make everyone happy, said Debra Patty-Smith, an administrator at ALRHCC. Emma gives 110 percent every day no matter what, she is always on time and would make any manager proud to have her on their team.
Because Lakes believes that it is important to maintain a positive attitude, she constantly displays affection and compassion for all residents at her facility. That is undoubtedly one reason why she was presented with the 2011 Housekeeping Professional of the Year Award by the Illinois Health Care Association (IHCA).
When off-duty, Lakes can be found shopping with her own money for ALRHCC s residents who need special clothing.
In addition to being a dedicated worker, Lakes finds time to volunteer at the Greater Galilee Church in Chicago, where she assists with the food pantry, prayer line and outreach ministries.
