Toni Anderson
Occupation: Program Director, Camp Butterfly
Why does she stand out?
Anderson first volunteered at Camp Butterfly in 2008 as a counselor. Three years later, she is program director of the non-profit organizations Green Butterfly Project (GBP).
Andersons duties include building the GBP program infrastructure, researching and submitting programmatic grants and soliciting funding and sponsorship opportunities. She also identifies potential community partnerships.
Camp Butterflys motto is to "transform the world, one girl at a time" and its purpose is to foster the holistic development of young girls. The GBP encourages young girls and promotes environmental sustainability in their communities. GBP participants attend fieldtrips, participate in community service projects and encourage awareness of becoming a green society.
Anderson is not sure how many people she has served during her time with Camp Butterfly, but she estimates it is quite a bit. I'd like to think we've helped many people just by raising the awareness of how important it is to turn off a light when you leave a room or by turning off water while brushing your teeth!, she said.
