Robert Townsend Shares His Secrets To Success And Receives Award At The Re-Opening Of Ice Lawndale Theaters

Chicago, IL Fans, aspiring filmmakers, industry veterans, and many of the citys finest joined Inner City Entertainment (ICE) in honoring Chicagos own Robert Townsend at the re-opening of ICE Lawndale 10 Theaters located at Roosevelt Road and Homan Avenue. ICE presented Townsend with an award honoring him for his achievements in the film industry. Special guests included (below) actress Tressa Thomas (The Five Heartbeats), NBC-5 anchor Marion Brooks, ICE co-owner Alisa Starks, BET President of Media Sales / former Lawndale resident Louis Carr, and ICE co-owner Donzell Starks.

An Evening with Robert Townsend featured a meet and greet with the renowned actor / filmmaker, a special interview during which he shared fond memories of his childhood growing up in Lawndale as well as his secrets to success, and a screening of behind- the-scenes footage of Townsends iconic hit The Five Heartbeats, which marked its 20th anniversary this year.
