Why does she stand out?
Ambrose uses her time to volunteer at her church where she has worked for two years as a Calendar Coordinator. The military wife and mother of three says the Black community can benefit from volunteerism because it serves as a way to show children how to give back, and its essential because sometimes we have to invest in our past so that our communities will have a future, she said. Ambrose believes her community work allows the church to function without having to worry about how administrative tasks will get done and thinks her participation helps the church focus more on helping people. Technology plays a big role in helping her to plan activities. I do not always have time for face-to-face meetings about the calendar activities, more often than not; I communicate via email or telephone. This way I can multitask and still get the job done, she says.
