Candidates Removed From Village Trustee Race
The village trustee contest in Dolton has been highly controversial in recent weeks. On Feb. 22, Dolton and South Holland were the only two suburban municipalities in Cook County to hold a consolidated primary election.
But residents voted for candidates who are not currently on the April 5th ballot. Here are the contenders and results for the Feb 22. primary: Willie Lowe, Jr. (DEM) 22.22%, Valeria Stubbs (DEM) 26.01%, Larry James Bradley (DEM) 22.78% and Riley H. Rogers (DEM) 28.99% . Stubbs and Bradley were supposed to move on to the April 5th ballot, but have been removed while Rogers is proceeding on to the next election on April 5th.
According to the Cook County Clerks office, the decision has been finalized and Bradley and Stubbs will not be on the ballot for the April 5th election.
The lineup for April 5th includes: Riley H. Rogers and two Independents Jason M. House and incumbent Garry M. Lambert all for Dolton village trustee.
In Dolton and South Holland, each of the four village trustee candidates ran for their respective partys nomination. Unlike Chicago, there are not any runoffs in these elections and the top three vote getters will be on the ballot for the April 5th general election. In South Holland, Heritage Community Party members, [who did not face any candidate petition challenges] include: N. Keith Chambers, Cynthia L. Doorn and John F. Sullivan will be on the ballot in April. Chambers received 31.6% of the vote, Doorn 29.58% and Sullivan 27.36%.
