Percy Allison Jan. 1, 1927 June 18, 2011

Percy Allison was born January 1, 1927 in Jennings, Louisiana. He was the son of Isaac (Ike) and Louise Allison. They both preceded him in death along with his sister, Tina Nelson.

Percy devoted his life to Christ and was an active member of New Bethlehem #4 Missionary Baptist Church for 17 years. While there he served as a member of the Deacons Board, treasurer of the Seniors Group and sang in the male choir. He was a faithful member for many years under the pastorate of the Reverend Louis Montgomery Sr.

In Jennings, Louisiana, Percy attended Jefferson-Davis High School. He later joined the U.S. Army where he traveled around Europe and was a World War II Veteran. He was also a member of the Lions Club for many years and worked at AT&T for many years. While working at AT&T, he met and married Myrtle Allison who preceded him in death in 2009. They were united on March 22, 1952 and were married for 56 years. Percy retired from AT&T in 1969 and opened up Allisons LaParisienne Boutique, with his wife, Myrtle. Percy had an entrepreneur spirit and mindset, owning and operating a boutique, hardware store and multi real-estate properties. Owning businesses was his dream and a reality. His passion was overwhelmed with his businesses allowing him to travel to Paris, London and New York.

Percy was such an energetic and outgoing person. He never let anything stop him from enjoying life and he always encouraged others to do the same. Even after suffering the loss of his legs later in life due to an illness, he did not consider himself handicap and he did not allow it to stop him. He was determined even more to enjoy life and help others. Not long afterwards, he served as a volunteer at Northwestern Memorial Hospital, teaching and mentoring medical students with emphasis on demonstrating how to use prosthetic limbs.

Percy had strong family values. He always spoke on family, wanted family to know each other and to stay connected. Percy always made sure he spent quality time with family. He always encouraged family to start up a business. Whether it was in person or on the phone he enjoyed spending time with family, from barbecues to birthdays. These were the times he enjoyed most.

Percy went home to be with the Lord on June 18, 2011.
