QBG Foundation

No institutions of learning are more qualified to carry forth the history of our people than the Historical Black Colleges and Universities of America. In an effort to develop unity and to get a better understanding of the people as being against negativity, a bridge must be built to unite these African-American institutions committed to furthering the education of our youth. The Quentis Bernard Garth College Scholarship Foundation accepts as its mission, the building of a lasting relationship between our deserving youth and those institutions through our scholarship.

Week of September 28, 2005

Atlanta- Tenisha Taylor-Abernathy, a 1995 Quentis Bernard Garth (QBG) Scholarship recipient, beat out a pool of candidates to be named the Cable News Network (CNN), newest executive producer.

Taylor-Abernathy has worked at CNN, headquarters in Atlanta, GA for the past two years as a news producer.

Taylor-Abernathy produced the Monday-Friday 10:00 a.m. newscast with anchor Daryn Kagan and routinely stepped up to the executive producer role. Before arriving at CNN in 2003, Taylor-Abernathy produced the 6:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m. newscasts at WUSA (CBS) in Washington, D.C. Previous to her DC stint, she served as a producer at WLWT (NBC) in Cincinnati, OH and WDSI (FOX) in Chattanooga, TN.

Taylor-Abernathy earned her BA degree in Mass Media Arts from Clark Atlanta University. She is currently working on her Masters degree in Public Administration at Kennesaw State University.

Taylor-Abernathy grew up on the Southside of Chicago, graduating from St. Martin De Poress Academy. She began her journalism career at the age of 16 by interning at Chicago Citizen Newspapers. Upon her high school graduation Chicago Citizen Newspapers QBG Foundation Scholarship Fund awarded Taylor-Abernathy with a full four year scholarship to attend CAU.

If it werent for Mr. Bill Garths (Publisher of the Chicago Citizen Newspaper Group) generosity and financial contribution, I would not be where I am today says Taylor-Abernathy.
