The Frank Lloyd Wright Preservation Trust is currently seeking volunteers for Wright's Home and Studio in Oak Park
The Frank Lloyd Wright Preservation Trust is in search of volunteers to assist with the Frank Lloyd Wright Home and Studio in Oak Park. In March, the Trust will begin a two-week spring volunteer training course.
Renowned architect Frank Lloyd Wright developed a unique style of American architecture. Many may be familiar with the architect from his creation, The Robie House located on the University of Chicago campus.
According to a recent press release, volunteers enjoy benefits such as invitations to exclusive excursions to art and architectural attractions; educational opportunities like architectural-based lectures; access to extensive online learning resources and knowledge bases; and discounts in the museum shops.
The volunteer positions are permanent. There is not an age requirement for volunteers; however, .usually the volunteer positions are best for college-age students, adults and seniors, Adam Ross, the Trusts public relations manager stated.
According to Ross, volunteers do not need to have an appreciation for architecture. The Preservation Trust welcomes any volunteer no matter their level of interest or knowledge about architecture, he stated.
The Trust is seeking new volunteers because idealists have always been at the core of the organizations ability to greet the public and deliver dynamic programs and events, Ross stated.
Volunteers duties involve providing tours and working in the shop; however, Ross says the Trust matches volunteers skill sets with the associations needs.
The Frank Lloyd Wright Home and Studio served as Wrights private residence and workplace from 1889 to 1909the first 20 years of his career. He used his home as an architectural laboratory, experimenting with design concepts that contain the seeds of his architectural philosophy.
According to the Trust, volunteers will assist the public by nurturing an appreciation of architecture and Frank Lloyd Wright. The volunteers also support Wrights legacy by contributing to preservation efforts and educational activities.
Interested individuals should contact the Frank Lloyd Wright Preservation before Feb. 15. For more information, please log on to gowright.org or call 312-994-4046.
