Why does she stand out?
Pittman is a volunteer with over 25 years of service. As a youth, she was bitten with the benevolent bug as a tutor at Beacon House Neighborhood Center on Chicagos Westside.
Today, she is president of the South Shore Chamber Inc., an organization dedicated to the prosperity of commerce in Chicagos South Shore neighborhood.
This summer, Pittman will direct the Chambers South Shore Summer Festival. We will be hosting various businesses, world renowned performing artists as well as community entertainers and celebrities, Pittman said.
In addition, shes involved with a host of community service projects through memberships in several organizations including Top Ladies of Distinction and the Order of Eastern Star. My volunteer services are varied as each organization has a common mission for serving all mankind, she said.
The humble humanitarian believes giving back is essential for African Americans.
There are many people in our communities that appear to be helpless and hopeless; I believe that
sometimes all a person needs is a patient, caring [and] blameless helping hand to release their
stagnation and despair.
