Burger King Settles Value Menu Franchisee Lawsuit
MIAMI - (AP) - Burger King Corp. and its new owners have settled a lawsuit with franchisees over Value Menu prices that started with a fight over its $1 double cheeseburger.
Some franchisees sued the company in 2009, after Burger King asked them to sell its $1 double cheeseburger. The franchisees said they lost money when they sold the burgers at that price.
In September, Burger King agreed to be bought by 3G Capital. It said it will be issuing new policies on how decisions are made about the Value Menu. Burger King said it looks forward to building a stronger and more collaborative relationship with franchisees. The settlement doesn't include any payments.
The burger is still on the value menu, but now it's $1.29.
