New costumes lead to firing of 15 casino servers

ATLANTIC CITY, New Jersey (AP) - A lawsuit says the skimpy new outfits that cocktail waitresses at one Atlantic City casino must wear have cost 15 of them their jobs, because middle-aged and older servers didn't look sexy enough in them.
Their union says the women were made to strip in front of female co-workers, told to squeeze into uniforms too small for them, and then photographed. A modeling agency was recruited to recommend who should go.
The new flapper costumes are part of Resorts' effort to rebrand itself in a roaring '20s theme after the popularity of ``Boardwalk Empire.'' The casino says each worker was treated fairly and says the costumes are key to its business operations.
